A “4-panel screening” usually refers to the COMMON hereditary diseases most relevant to that breed.
For French Bulldogs, a 4-panel test includes:
1. JHC Juvenile Hereditary Cataracts-
French Bulldogs are a genetic, recessive eye condition, often linked to the HSF4 gene mutation, causing lens clouding that leads to progressive vision loss and potential blindness, usually by 2-3 years old, affecting both eyes;
2. HUU Hyperuricosuria-
having too much uric acid in your urine, often from overproduction or poor excretion, leading to uric acid crystals or kidney stones (nephrolithiasis), causing symptoms like abdominal/flank pain, frequent urination, and blood in urine.
3. CMR1 Canine Multifocal Retinopathy-
Eye condition causing vision problems.
